And 2009 Becomes 2010...

I can honestly say that Christmas 2009 was the best one in a very long time! While there was nothing overly exciting about what we did for the holidays, it was the first Christmas in a long time that we felt we could really relax and enjoy ourselves.

Christmas Eve was spent at the candlelighting services at our church. The kids really enjoyed the music and loved the part when all the candles were lit! The indoor nativity complete with live animals didn't hurt either!

Christmas morning was so cozy as we enjoyed it with just our little family, before the rest of the family from both sides joined us for the afternoon and evening.

Stephen and I both had some time off between Christmas and New Years and we reveled in spending time with each other and the kids and catching up on rest. On New Years Eve we had the pleasure of having a few of our neighbors and Stephen's sister, Karen, over for a taco bar and Wii bowling and we spent New Years Day at Stephen's aunt and uncle's house. We finished off our wonderful vacation on Stephen's birthday (Jan. 4) by catching dinner and a movie with the kids.

The arrival of 2010 was a welcome occasion as I have felt God saying to me that while 2009 was about the process of getting accepted as missionaries, 2010 will be about actually getting to Italy. Tomorrow we start a 21 day fast that our church does every January. We have decided to fast media this time to block out a lot of distractions so we can focus on hearing what God is saying about how to best accomplish our missions support raising and training. We did a fast like this in the fall and I feel like it had a huge impact on our family, so I'm excited to see what God reveals this time. I can't wait to share with everyone what God shows us, so check back soon!
