Happy Birthday, Crissylyn!

Almost 9 years ago, we added a member to our family through Compassion International. Our daughter across the sea is named Crissylyn and she lives in the Philippines. At the time, she had just turned 6 years old. Today is her 15th birthday!

Shortly after beginning our sponsorship of Crissylyn, we went to the Philippines for a mission trip. Our schedule was very packed, but Crissylyn, along with her mother and baby sister, traveled 4 hours with a Compassion staffer to see us. The short time that we spent with her was so precious! We had stuffed a goody bag with all kinds of things that that a 6-year-old girl would like. We colored pictures with her, loved on her, and made memories to last a lifetime!

Over the years, we've kept in contact with her through letters. She writes to tell us about her family, how she's doing in school, and what she's learning about God's Word and we write back to let her know what we're up to. While there have been times when we really couldn't afford to continue our sponsorship, the thought of not supporting her was unthinkable. We couldn't imagine not sending that monthly support any more than we could imagine not providing food and shelter for our own children.

So happy birthday, Crissylyn! It has truly been a pleasure to watch you grow up into a beautiful, godly, young woman. And although we know that you will only need our sponsorship a few more years, you will always be a part of our family! We can't wait to see what God does through your life!

P.S. If you want to make a difference in the life of an under-privileged child, please consider becoming a sponsor with Compassion International! To see pictures of children who need your help TODAY, click here.

You're right, Honey. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch Crissalyn grow up right before our eyes. I can't wait to see the future steps God has for her.

We promised her that day we met her to never stop supporting her, and with God's help we've been able to keep that promise for almost 9 years.
