Not just one, but two!

After spending all weekend at the hospital with my dad, our family headed home late last night feeling a little better about everything. Until about 2:45 am, when I received a call from my mom. When a relative is in the hospital and someone calls in the middle of the night, it is never a good feeling. However, I would have never guessed that my mom was calling to tell me that she had had a mild heart attack and was in the hospital, too. Huh?!? My immediate reaction was to ask, "Do you mean Dad had a heart attack?" Ummm, no... it was actually my mom. So, now both of my parents are in the hospital with heart problems at the same time.

I drove back to Athens first thing this morning and arrived in time to meet with the cardiologist who performed the heart cath on my mom. She had a 70% blockage in one artery, but the doctor was able to put a stint in and he had determined that there was no damage to the heart. Thank you, Jesus!

So, I've spent my day going back and forth between their 2 different rooms, 2 floors apart. Thankfully, it looks like Mom will probably be able to go home tomorrow, but Dad is going to be here several more days until his leg infection heals so that they can address the more serious problem with his heart. He's doing fairly well so far. His only complaint is that the TV in his room doesn't get all the sports channels that he gets at home. Awwww... :)

Thanks to everyone who has prayed for our family. We have felt your prayers over the last several days. As Stephen and I gear up to travel to Illinois on Wednesday evening for our missions placement consultation, we recognize this situation as what it is... an attack from an enemy that wants to distract us from God's calling. However, we stand firm on God's Word that tells us Satan is a defeated foe and press forward with what God has called us to. Please keep praying for continued healing for my parents and safety during our trip later this week.
