This picture of Stephen and me was taken exactly 11 years ago today, almost to the minute. The occasion was the rehearsal dinner for our wedding and we were a lot younger (also thinner) and very much in love. Awwww... :)Well, 11 years later, we're still very much in love, but it is a different kind of feeling. Gone is the puppy dog infatuation and stars in our eyes. In it's place is a love that has survived the death of close family members, job losses, sickness, economic hardship, the pressures of ministry, etc. You know, that whole "for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health" thing. For some reason, when most couples are repeating those vows, they don't think those things will actually happen. Well, they will, so be prepared.
But with the bad also comes the good. Like 2 beautiful, healthy children that make life challenging and fun. Like working together in ministry and seeing people's lives changed. Like having your husband become more than just a spouse, but also your best friend.
Stephen, thanks for 11 wonderful (and sometimes not so wonderful) years. Even with all the difficult times, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Happy Anniversary!
